• In case of a government vehicle, only the postal charges and the number plate charges are changed.
• No transfer charges are relevant to the following institutions.
• Government Ministries, Departments, and statutory bodies
• Provincial councils
• Local Government institutions
• Diplomatic bodies, missions etc.

Registration charges for transferring the ownership (Ordinary Services) Rs.

• Rs. 50/- is charged as stationary and postage fees.

• Rs. 50/- is charged as stationary and postage fees.

If there is a change of provinces at the time of transferring charges are levied for number plates according to the class of vehicles.

Taxes

Sales Tax

In case of transferring a vehicle prior to exceeding a period of 07 years since it’s first registration, a tax of Rs. 4000/- is charged on the first transfer.

Withholding Tax

When a motor car or a dual purpose vehicle that has not exceeded 05 years since its first registration is transferred, a withholding tax of Rs. 1000/- is charged. (Not relevant to motor bicycles, three wheelers, lorries, buses and hand tractors)

Weight certificate obtained by having the vehicle checked. (To get the vehicle checked recommendation from the Technical Branch and approval of the Commissioner of Motor Traffic should be obtained.)

In the Conversion of a petrol engine of a vehicle with English numbers to a diesel engine the following documents should be produced. (Fuel conversion can not be performed until 3 years have elapsed since the date of first registration)

• Registration certificate
• Vehicle Identity card
• In case of leasing facilities, letter from the relevant institution stating that it does not object to the conversion.
• Original of the revenue licence for the current year.
