VET - Vehicle Emission Testing Programme.

It is a major environmental problem that vehicles emit environmentally hazardous compounds by poorly maintained vehicles and incomplete combustion of fuel. The problem is getting severe with the increasing vehicle fleet on the roads year by year.

 Motor Traffic Department hopes to introduce Vehicle Emission Testing programme with a view to reduce air pollution by vehicle emission. Having obtained necessary approvals this programme will be implemented with the support of private sector organizations. Then recommended vehicles might have to obtain Vehicle Emission Testing Certificate to obtain Annual Revenue Licence from respective provincial councils.
